Oily skin is the result of the overflow of sebum from the sebaceous glands. These glands are located below the skin surface.

The sebum is an oily substance which is made of fat. Sebum is not bad at all because it helps protect and moisturize your skin and keeps your hair shiny and healthy.

However, many sebums can be due to oily skin, causing the hair follicle to be closed and acne can occur. Genetics, changes in hormones, or even stress can increase the production of symbiotic.

Oily skin and acne are challenging to manage. Nevertheless, home remedies for oily skin often reduce symptoms without the use of drugs or expensive skin care drugs.

Here are 10 home remedies for oily skin you can try at home.

1. Wash your face

It seems obvious, but many people with oily skin do not wash their face daily. If your skin is oily, then you should wash your face twice a day – but do not overdo it.

Avoid hard soap and use a gentle soap like glycerin soap instead.

2. Blotting Paper

These thin, small papers do not prevent your sebaceous glands from going into overdrive, but it will blot excess oil from your face to help keep your bright, smooth skin.

Instead of washing your face as soon as you see it turning oily, use a blotting paper to extract extra oil from the problem areas of your face.

Use it throughout the day as required.

3. Honey

Honey is one of nature’s most respected skin treatments. Thanks to its antibacterial and antiseptic capabilities, it can help remove oil and acne-prone skin.

Honey is also a natural antioxidant (humectants) that draws moisture from the skin without replacing it, so it helps in keeping the skin moist, but not oily.

Use raw honey to treat acne and oily skin, spread a thin layer on your face, and allow it to dry for about 10 minutes, and rinse well with warm water.

Multani mitti is a popular remedy for oily skin and acne because it is highly absorbent.

Add filtered water or rose water, about one teaspoon of clay (Mitti), as long as it creates pudding stability.

Apply a mixture of clay on your face and leave it until it is dry.

Wash your face and remove the clay with hot water.

5. Oatmeal

Mix half teaspoon of powdered oats with little water and 1 spoon of honey to make a thick paste.

Put the paste on the whole face and leave it for 20-30 minutes before rinsing it off with plain hot water.

6. Green tea bag

Green tea is fully loaded with powerful antioxidants, anti-aging, and nutrients that affect our body in a healthy way.

Green tea polyphenols can help in reducing the production of sebum and are beneficial in the treatment of acne.

The same way it is beneficial for our skin to remove excess oil from our face. All you need is just used tea bags.

Take 2-3 used tea bags and refrigerate them in the freezer for 15-20 minutes.

Now keep cool tea bags on your face for 20-30 minutes before rinsing it off.

7. Egg white and lemon

Egg whites and lemon are a folk remedy for oily skin. Both components are considered to tighten the pores.

In lemon and other citrus fruits, contains antibacterial efficacy acid that can help in absorbing oil.

Mix 1 teaspoon egg white with 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice.

You can put a thin layer of aloe vera gel on your face before sleeping and leave it till morning and rinse it off in the morning.
